Overview
Chatelier ("we", "us", "our") provides a conversational chatbot platform that businesses embed on their own websites to answer questions from their customers. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. We only collect data that is necessary to operate the chatbot service — we do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who this applies to
This policy covers two groups of people: business customers who create and configure a Chatelier account, and end users who chat with a Chatelier-powered widget on a business's website.
Information we collect
We collect the minimum information required to authenticate accounts, configure chatbots, and deliver chat responses:
- Account information: name, email address, and authentication identifiers (including those provided by sign-in providers such as Google) when a business owner creates a Chatelier account.
- Chatbot configuration: content the business provides to train or configure its chatbot, such as FAQs, business details, and knowledge base documents.
- Conversation data: messages exchanged between end users and a chatbot, needed to generate and improve responses for that business.
- Technical data: basic operational data such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps, used for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
How we use Google account data
If you sign in to Chatelier using Google, we request only the minimum OAuth scopes needed to identify your account (your name, email address, and profile photo). We use this solely to create and secure your Chatelier account and to authenticate you on future sign-ins. We do not use Google account data for any other purpose, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Why we collect it
We use this data exclusively to operate, secure, and improve the chatbot service: authenticating accounts, generating chatbot responses, maintaining conversation history within a business's dashboard, diagnosing technical issues, and preventing abuse of the platform. We do not use personal data for advertising, and we do not build profiles of end users for any purpose unrelated to the chatbot service.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances: with service providers who host our infrastructure or provide the underlying language-model capabilities powering chat responses (bound by confidentiality and data-processing obligations), when required by law, or with a business's own explicit consent to fulfil the service they've requested.
Data retention
We retain account and conversation data for as long as an account remains active, or as needed to provide the service. Businesses may request deletion of their account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at the address below. Business customers can also manage or delete chatbot data directly from their account.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we hold against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
